Brother Travis Ray Pendergrass

 -1936-

A master's job is never done, it lives on through the ages.

The officers were installed on January 9, 1936 and it was a joint Installation and stated meeting. Our Brother Tom Howison Jr., was installed as Secretary, the first of his many years of service to Clovis Lodge 417. Installation was enjoyed by all and dancing rounded out the evening.

In March it was carried by motion and vote, that the Lodge should have more suitable men's room facilities installed for the members. (Sorry it was slow news at this time) In May Trustee McMurtry informed the Lodge that in order for the men's room toilets to be changed, all new plumbing would need to be installed also and the Lodge at this time could not afford such an endeavor.

There was also a discussion about some of the brethren who had fallen on hard times after the depression and who could not afford the money for their dues and for their past dues. It was decided by motion and vote to allow these brethren to pay their 1935 and 1936 dues and that they would be caught up and in good standing. In June Bro. Larson presented a new holder for the alter lights, a very generous gift.

In August, the Master had called the attention of the brethren to how the District Inspector's were being chosen and thought it should revert back to the old way of the Inspector's coming under the jurisdiction of the Grand Lecturer.

In September, the trustees were ordered to have the necessary restorations made to the cottage that the Lodge owned, as it was in a terrible state of repairs. In October the box that had formerly been used for the collection of funds to be used for charitable purposes, was emptied and the entire contents deposited into the Lodge treasury in the amount of $8.33.
